The Virginia Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive is a road cyclist’s dream. By staying at the Indigo House, you have convenient access to those routes as well as the best Blue Ridge cycling routes. It’s a road cycling destination! We’ve partnered with The Impossible Route to provide three incredible road bike routes for your next getaway to the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Below are three recommended cycling routes — perfect for beginners, intermediates, and advanced cyclists alike.

Blue Ridge Parkway (40-ish miles)
If you’re looking for mountain vistas and climbing, the Blue Ridge Parkway is your route! The parkway exploration route has a bit of everything; the famed vineyard lands, old country farms, and of course the famous Blue Ridge Parkway.
Be prepared for a long day, bring apples, food, and water. The route has significant climbing and high-speed descents. This route is way tougher than it looks, it may only be 39 miles but has 4,163 feet of climbing.
Ennis Mountain Loop (16 miles)
Check out the Ennis Mountain Loop for a rolling country tour of 16 miles. This beginner-level route passes Cardinal Point Winery and circles around Ennis Mountain. There is a small 2.4-mile gravel section on the east side, and the dense forest sections provide nice shade.
Twin Poplars Route (31 miles)
Looking for a guided ride?
Whether you’re just looking for a shuttle ride to the top of the mountain or want a guide to take you on pre-planned routes, we recommend Take Aim Cycling for guides and shuttles. They can take you to the best trails and roads around.
As permitted guides and shuttle operators in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest, Take Aim Cycling takes the guesswork out of your visit to the Shenandoah Valley.
