The Indigo House is a newly constructed bed & breakfast that offers scenic gathering spaces for elopements and small weddings outside of Charlottesville, Virginia. With five acres of sweeping mountain views and towering poplar and oak trees, we help you create an inclusive and intimate celebration that feels natural.

Couples can choose from an adventure elopement or micro wedding for up to 50 guests. Whether you stay for the day or a weekend, we invite you to start your next great adventure nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. 

LITTLE SEQUOIA

Affectionately named and completely inspired by the enchanting woodsy weddings in Sequoia National Park, “Little Sequoia” was designed for the majestic I do. It is about 40×20 feet and easily seats 50 people in rows. The ground is covered with premium mulch. The ceremony location comes with pre-strung bistro lights.

Our favorite part: The golden rays of the sunset, as they dance through the trees, set the most romantic light for evening ceremonies. 

THE SIDE LAWN

Perfectly situated for a backyard reception, the Side Lawn is a natural fit for an intimate evening under the stars. It’s beautifully landscaped with native plants and herbs, equipped with power, and fully shaded in the late afternoon and evening. Enjoy post-ceremony cocktail hour at the adjacent courtyard, complete with residential outdoor furniture, a fire pit, bistro lighting, and an overhead fan.

Our favorite part: It’s the perfect space for the tent, offering mountain views on one side and a wooded backdrop on the other!

THE MEADOW

The Meadow is ideal for couples who desire stunning mountain views as their ceremony backdrop. This area is closest to the home and features afternoon shade, sweet romance, and seasonal wildflowers. Ceremonies of up to 50 people can be held on the level gravel space or in the adjoining field.

Our favorite part: This picture-perfect setting shines all year long and almost always has a breeze. 

Micro Wedding Package

Enjoy private access to all five acres of the Indigo House, set in the heart of the Nelson 151. An intimate, three-day property buyout is ideal for gathering friends and family for an extended, backyard wedding weekend. Our most flexible package allows you to create a one-of-a-kind experience based on your timeline and budget. This package includes:

Welcome dinner space: Arrange a welcome dinner on Friday night for up to 20 people

Ceremony and Reception space: Choose an outdoor location on the property to celebrate with up to 50 guests

Lodging: An exclusive two-night buyout, which sleeps up to eight in our modern guest rooms with ensuite bathrooms

Rentals: Three folding tables, wood ceremony arbor, hurricane candle vases, yard games, ceremony string lights, and fire pit

Required Rentals: A day of wedding coordinator and tent up to 20×40 ft. 

Pricing starts at $4,000. A 50% nonrefundable deposit is required to hold your date. We only have 12 Micro Weddings available per year. Booking is first come, first served.

Ceremony Only Package

Get married here and stay here. With our Ceremony Package, we handle most of the logistics for your event of up to 20 guests. Just find your outfit, officiant, and photographer. We’ll be your something blue. This package includes:

Ceremony space: Two-hour venue rental of Little Sequoia

Lodging: A one-night stay for the couple (and their pup) following the wedding

Celebratory drinks: Local sparkling wine (or cider) toast 

Cake: Choose from a variety of flavors and styles for an eight-inch cake from Cake Bloom

Florals: Flowers provided by Blue Ridge Floral Design

Decor: A wood ceremony arbor, vintage-style chairs, gift table, candles and vases

Ceremony Coordinator: Simple set up for venue provided decor, celebratory drinks, and cake

Pricing starts at $1,500. A 50% nonrefundable deposit is required to hold your date. This package is only available Sundays-Thursdays.

The venue fee does not include a reception, guest access to the main house, taxes or fees, gratuity, or other event rentals and decor.

Adventure Elopement Package

Make your wedding day the most memorable adventure yet. Trade a stressful wedding and have an experience that fills you with joy, exploration, and intimate moments that mark the magnitude of your love. This package includes:

Lodging: A two-night stay for the couple and a complimentary night for your photographer

Florals: Flowers provided by Blue Ridge Floral Design

Celebratory drinks: A bottle of local sparkling wine (or cider) 

Cake: Choose from a variety of flavors and styles for a four-inch cake from Cake Bloom

Picnic Lunch: A gourmet Mediterranean tapas-style picnic from Basic Necessities

Pricing starts at $1,040. A 50% nonrefundable deposit is required to hold your date.

The package fee does not include photography, a reception, guest access to the main house, taxes or fees, gratuity, the picnic set up, or other event rentals and decor.

CLAIM YOUR DATE

As an operating bed & breakfast, we strive to help couples connect and explore, whether they are on an overnight trip or hosting a wedding weekend. Because of this, availability can be limited. Reservations are based on first come, first served. 

Current Availability:

• 2023: We are fully booked for weekend weddings. A limited number Ceremony only and Adventure Elopements are available through mid-November.
